Question and Answers when chartering in the BVI's

Where do I pick up the boat?
We are based at Village Cay Marina in Roadtown. The boats are all on A Dock and the office in Condo #5

How do I get there?
You may fly into Beef Island Airport(EIS) in Tortola via San Juan or fly into St. Thomas in the USVI and take a ferry over from Charlotte Amalie to Roadtown. We are a five minute walk from the ferry dock in Roadtown. We can schedule taxi pick up with Sebastian Transport if you have lots of luggage and prefer not to walk. The cost for taxi pick up is at your expense due to insurance reasons.

What days and times do you charter?
You can commence a Bareboat Charter any day of the week and charters run from noon to noon.
Can I board the night before?
Yes, we offer Sleepaboards(5pm board) based on availability at half the daily rental fee.

What is included?
You may view what you can expect onboard at this link from our website below.

What charges can I expect upon arrival?
You will be responsible for the BVI Taxes which include Cruising Tax, National Park Trust Permit and a contribution to Virgin Islands Search and Rescue. Contact your charter broker for actual fees as these are determined by the season.

Is fuel included?
The boat will be fully fueled upon arrival and you top off the fuel tank at the end of the charter at your expense.

What happens if there is a problem with the boat while im out sailing?
If you have a problem while onboard we ask that you first call the base to see if the issue can be remedied over the phone which in most cases it can. If not we will determine a place and time to meet up to fix the problem. Usually we can meet you right away or within a short period of time but contractually we have 24 hours.
In the highly unlikely chance that the issue is major and you cannot continue sailing and the problem not repairable we will move you to another comparable boat.

What if a storm or hurricane comes while Im on charter?
We offer Trip Cancellation Insurance which is based on 7% of your total charter package and protects you in case you cannot sail due to a named Tropical Storm or Hurricane. Any time lost sailing due to the storm would be refunded. Without this protection the days and funds are lost.

Do you offer kayaks or water toys?
We offer two man kayaks which you can order with us and for other water toys such as one man kayaks, windsurfers ect we can provide you with contact information for outside vendors no problem!

Can I store luggage in your office?
Office space is very limited so we suggest you pack using duffel bags which are easily stored on the boat as opposed to hard luggage as we cannot guarantee that we will have space available for your luggage.

Can I rent an extra dinghy?
We do not have spare dinghy’s to rent so if interested you can contact Island Time and rent one through them. www.islandtimeltd.com

Can I have extra linens?
Each cabin comes with an extra set of linens but if you require additional ones and towels ect there is an additional fee. Check with staff upon check in for availability and cost.

Can I have an extra cooler and BBQ? What type of BBQ is it?
Extra coolers and BBQ’s are available on a first come first served basis as they are limited and an additional fee applies. Check with staff upon check in for availability and cost. All BBQ’s are charcoal which you must purchase on your own.

Are there phones on the boats?
No, only a radio but you may rent a phone from us upon checkin for $10 per week. You then purchase non refundable minutes in $5 increments. All calls between the boat and the base are free.

Will my cell phone work in Tortola?
Yes most likely. Most cells phones through major US companies work throughout the BVI.

Does the boat offer Internet?
No, but we can provide you with contact information with a company that provides service via an antennae for $50 per day.

Is there wifi or internet cafĂ©’s in the BVI?
There are some restaurants/bars throughout the area that offer either free connection or connection for a fee. If connection is important to you however we recommend setting up service so you will have access at all times.
