2013 BVI Spring Regatta Is Coming

Host Nanny Cay Resort and Marina will be welcoming several fun, fast and highly competitive boats with crews to match, for the inaugural 2013 Melges 32 Virgin Islands Sailing Series. Looking for a new adventurous way to spend your Spring Break? Charter a catamaran this spring to witness the excitement first hand! This is the best way to experience the seven day party in the British Virgin Islands. You can cruise a catamaran at your own pace and take in all that the event has to offer from a unique and exciting perspective. This would be a creative way for the avid sailor to share their enthusiasm with the rest of the family. The BVI Spring Regatta is the one Caribbean Regatta that has something for everyone. You can participate, just cruise as a spectator, practice amongst some of the most skilled crews in the world or simply party with thousands of sailing enthusiasts. Take home the Glory of victory or memories that will never be forgotten. The BVI is one of the most popular charting destinations in the world for various reasons. The beautiful scenery, the beaches, the marine life and the ability to witness this event makes it all the more desirable.
Monday, March 25: Registration The party starts Monday evening at Nanny Cay Marina with registration and a welcoming party for the Sailing Festival. Tuesday, March 26: Round Tortola Racee Kick off starts with a sail around Tortola, the largest island in the BVI. The event starts at Nanny Cay and makes its way to the north side in the Atlantic Ocean, then around Beef Island into the Sir Francis Channel and back to Nanny Cay. If the winds happen to change, the race head off in the opposite direction. Wednesday, March 27: Race to 'Treasure Island' Beach Day An entire day of fun! Race to the outer island Norman Island along with more than 50 competing boats. The finish line is the starting point for a full day of fun at the beach, with a BBQ, a bar and aquatic events providing fun for the entire family. If you are chartering a catamaran as a spectator or to support a friend or family member participating, you are welcome to join in the fun. Thursday, March 28: Tortola Island Day - Wind, Water & Wander and Welcome Party This is the perfect opportunity for those chartering the area at the time of the event to experience all that Tortola has to offer. Snorkeling, diving and dolphin discovery trips and island tours are available. There are lessons for those interested in kite-boarding and stand-up paddleboards. A bar will be open throughout the day, and local vendors will be serving lunch and dinner on the beach! If you prefer, this would be the perfect time relax by a pool or on the beach under the shade provided by the palms lining the beach.
Registration for the BVI Spring Regatta starts at noon accompanied by live music and the Mount Gay Rum Welcome Party. Friday, Saturday, & Sunday, March 29-31 Stellar Racing Action Now it's time to party! Three days of world-class racing takes place along with partying under the stars at the Regatta Village on the beach of Nanny Cay Marina. Each day's events will be broadcast in the village nightly. If you're in town on vacation or supporting friends and family this is the perfect opportunity witness the competition live at the village and online. IYCC during the Spring Regatta The International Yacht Club Challenge brings sailors from around the world to participate on Sunsail monohulls. Party Central Every afternoon and evening entertainment will keep the blood pumping and everyone in the mood to party until the next day of racing. The Regatta Village will have five international food vendors, regatta merchandise and places to buy those items lost overboard (sunglasses, gloves, etc.).
